Cordova SDK Release Notes

We are constantly working to improve our SDK. Here you’ll find the change log for the Cordova SDK and related details.

Cordova 2.2.2 Release

✅ Fixed

  • On Android, getInitialNotification() now returns data only when the launch intent contains a Reteno push identified by es_interaction_id.
  • Intent extras from Branch or other deep-link SDKs are ignored. If the app was not opened from a Reteno push, the method returns an empty object ({}).

🔆 Improved

  • Updated Reteno iOS SDK from 2.7.4 to 2.7.6.
  • Reteno Android SDK remains 2.10.2.

Android behavior change: if your app relied on getInitialNotification() returning non-Reteno intent extras, read that data from your own deep-link handler instead.

After upgrading, update manually declared notification-extension pods to pod 'Reteno', '2.7.6' and run pod install. The Ionic wrapper requires no update because the public API is unchanged.

Cordova 2.2.1 Release

🚀 Added

  • Added RETENO_ACCESS_KEY as the preferred access-key preference. The deprecated SDK_ACCESS_KEY alias remains supported for backward compatibility.

🔆 Improved

  • Updated Reteno Android SDK from 2.10.1 to 2.10.2.
  • Updated Reteno iOS SDK from 2.7.3 to 2.7.4.

✅ Fixed

  • Fixed push-linked In-App messages not appearing after an iOS cold start.
  • Fixed iOS installation with static linking by enabling modular headers automatically.
  • Fixed an issue where removing the plugin could corrupt Cordova plugin bookkeeping on iOS.

For Ionic/Capacitor apps, set ios.handleApplicationNotifications to false in capacitor.config.ts so Reteno can process cold-start push responses. If you use Capacitor push or local-notification plugins, forward their callbacks manually.
